LiSA 2008 Corporate Direction
Simon Marcus COO at TLC for eighteen months presented the corporate direction and product development in the upcoming year. Plans to become the leading ILS vendor to serve library customers now and in the future. Increasing interest in open source products. Major accomplishments was Library.Solution 4.0 and WebPac 2.0 released this year. TLC scaled the project down and shelved the cataloging module a decision that was not taken lightly. SCRUM is a method of developing new software in iterative cycles, vast amounts of software developed in the waterfall method is never delivered. Released in March of 2008, ut they found they didn't contact their customers enough. More bugs then they would have liked when it was released.
Another development was the release of LS2 pac. Utilzing ajax and web 2.0 technologies for an interface that is familar to users. TLC is tweaking the development so it is applicable to libraries. The coming year will bring a 3 - 5 month development cycle on products.
LS2Circ will be released in the spring of 2009.
Release of of LS2 pac version and LSKids by the end of the year.
Release of a new version of OSA by the end of the year. Development begins early next year.
Finally, making a significant investment to standards so software interfaces with third party vendors.
YouSeeMore is not in the cycle for development in the next six months, but possibly in the next twelve to eighteen months.
LS2 pac will be installed this evening at Shenandoah Public Library
